Six Years Home

Today we celebrate Layla’s sixth Gotcha Day! One month ago Layla told me excitedly it was only one month until her gotcha day! And she told me all the people she wanted to invite to her party and how she couldn’t wait to show them her adoption video. I’m amazed at where my little girl is today in comparison to last year. Last year was such a rough year with insecurities and fears. I spent so many times smiling and trying to encourage Layla and then going to my room and crying, heartbroken by the fears that she was living with everyday. This year it’s like night and day. The confidence she has gained this year is so beautiful. I just love this day where we can stop and reflect on this crazy journey. Six years ago I held a tiny baby in my arms and today she stands a head above all her friends (literally, she’s so tall) including her sister! Last night, as we watched her adoption video one of our friends commented about how baby Layla’s eyes sparkled so beautiful and that they still had that same sparkle. And I have to agree, through all the crazy ups and downs of the last six years, one thing that stays the same are those sparkly brown eyes!
