A few years ago I joined an organization called Red Thread Session. They were a network of photographers who offered free sessions for newly adoptive families and I was so excited to volunteer with them. A few months after volunteering, the founders decided to step down and were looking for someone else to take over. Erika and I took over and while I was in LA I got the opportunity to work with so many wonderful families. At the beginning of the year we made the decision to make some big changes and completely reconstructed and rebranded and became Found Families. It has been amazing and already grown far beyond anything we expected. Living in Nebraska I haven’t had the opportunity shoot any adoption sessions, but there was a family in Omaha that we were unable to match with a photographer, so when we were there visiting a few weeks ago I planned a session with them!
The Neun family was equal parts adorable and lively! I had such an amazing time with them and it felt wonderful to have the opportunity to work with another adoptive family.
If you know or are a family who has recently adopted, be sure to apply for a Found Families session here. And if you are a photographer who would like to give back and volunteer, we REALLY NEED more photographers! You can apply to become a volunteer here.
