We are in a bittersweet time of life. We’re really excited to be heading to seminary, but leaving youth ministry is not an easy thing. Over the last seven years these kids have become like our own. We’ve seen kids graduate and go to college and now we are experiencing a new stage in our kids lives. Proposals, engagements, and weddings. This stage makes me feel old, but I’m okay with that because I love it, especially when I have the privilege of shooting their weddings. When Allison told me she and Dan were engaged and that she wanted me to shoot their wedding I did a little happy dance and cried a few happy tears.
I remember when Ally first started coming to my small group. We would always do a check in time and I always looked forward to hearing how Ally’s week had gone because nine times out of ten something absolutely ridiculous happened she would have us all laughing our heads off. (If you ever get the chance, ask her about the tennis racket story. It’s my favorite.) Allison and her family quickly became incredibly special to our family. The summer before her senior year Allison and Dan were apart of our youth’s mission trip to Washington D.C. and their love story began that week. They graduated and went off to college and made it work long distance, including a Ally’s semester in Costa Rica. As their college graduations were drawing near, many were getting impatient waiting for Dan to propose, myself included! Graduation weekend he came through and proposed beautifully with the help of Ally’s friends. I love that I was there to witness their relationship begin and so so so honored that I will be there to capture the two of them becoming husband and wife!
Look at that gorgeous ring!I love these two so much! I can picture them in fifty years still standing just like this on their own beautiful porch.Love those smiles:)
I just started using Evolve Edits for some of my favorite images and here are a couple that they did for me.
