My grandfather used tell me stories and by far my favorite was when he’d tell me about the day he met my grandma. It was a blind date, but earlier in the day she had been playing softball and ended up with a black eye. My poppy would tell me, “Even with the black eye, I still fell in love with her.” I used to love hearing that story. What started out as a simple blind date with a black eye led to over sixty years of marriage. So when I had the opportunity to go on a blind date twelve years ago I thought, why not? It worked for my grandparents, might as well give it a shot. And I’m so glad I did because it led to eleven years of marriage, three wonderful children, and countless adventures! Here’s to fifty more years so we can also end the way my grandparents did, with over sixty years of love.
