The Why

One of my favorite things to do as a child was to go through my grandmother's photos. Photos from when I was a baby; photos from when my mom, aunts and uncle were children; photos from before any of us were even a thought in anyone's mind and it was just my grandparents, young and in love. My favorite photo ever is of my grandparents when they were engaged leaning against an old car kissing. That photo, and all the photos that came after it, reminds me of what a rich

heritage I have. When I have the opportunity to shoot engagements and weddings I keep that photo in the back of my mind. I am very aware of the fact that I may be taking a photo that their grandchildren will someday hold in their hands and feel the love that was, and still is, shared. I know that these images will be cherished not only by the couple, but by their children and grandchildren because this day was a pivotal day in their heritage.

Meet Sarah & Eddie

Sarah is a passionate person and I need that.  I have a tendency to be complacent but complacency is not a word in Sarah's vocabulary.  There's always something more, bigger or better.  There is always something to dream for and then seek to achieve.  I love that Sarah dreams; because she teaches our kids to and me as well.

He cooks me dinner every night. It's one of the top five things I love about him. I also love that he's a little bit of a nerd. He loves school and thinks it's fun to translate ancient greek. I think it's a little weird, but I also find it endearing. Most of all, I love the way he truly cares about and for people. He knows how to make people feel welcome and loved.

We met on a blind date at Disneyland. It was a casual group thing. No pressure if we didn't like each other. That was a Saturday. We went to a movie together on Monday. Then dinner a few nights later. I guess you could say we liked each other because seven months later we were engaged. Six months after that we were married. They say, "when you know, you know" and we knew.

We've been in church ministry our entire marriage. He was a youth director and I was by his side through it all. We worked great together as a team and we loved every minute of it. Then came seminary and everything about our lives changed. We moved across the country from Virginia back home to California and I started my business again from scratch. Eddie was going to school full time and working part time at a church. I was working two jobs and we were tag teaming the chauffeuring duties of our three busy children. About a year into seminary we realized how much we missed working together. At the same time I was having a hard time finding a second shooter I loved as much as the one I had in Virginia so we decided I would train Eddie to be my second shooter. We absolutely love working together again. And I like it even better because this time I get to be the boss!
