Farris Family | Los Angeles Adoption Story

Uncategorized

the blog:

Lacey contacted me about an adoption session through Red Thread Sessions (which is where I get most of my adoption clients from, more about this amazing organization coming soon…) and I was so excited to have the opportunity to work with this family. Not only did I get to photograph Banks, Lacey and their new baby girl, but Lacey’s family was visiting and I got to capture Lacey’s sister and family meeting Baby F for the first time! Here is a bit of the Farris’ story

My husband and I were married in 2008 and decided to wait a few years before trying to expand our family. After 5 years we decided to try… and nothing happened. 15 months went by and we became pregnant. We were carrying a little girl, and at 20 weeks my water broke and I lost her.
We started trying again, but nothing happened again even with the help of infertility treatments. We heard about an expectant mother from an attorney that a friend adopted through… Banks was not sure he was ready to adopt… but said we would put our names in the hat, and if she picks us- then he will trust this is what God has for us.
Well, she picked us. She was due in September 2015. The week she went in to labor, she changed her mind though. We were devastated. All signs seems to lead to the fact that this was the plan, and we were following what God wanted us to do- but we felt we were left with nothing.
We decided to try again. We matched with another mother over Christmas 2015. She was due in April.
We worked really hard to get to know this family, and integrate them in to our own. April came, and so did the baby. Looking back to when Banks agreed to adoption was 9 months before our daughters birth. Its funny how God softens your heart to bring you to where you need to be.
We have a very open adoption with Finley’s birth parents. I could not have thought of a better way this all could have gone. Its truly God’s grace.
